Joshua Sullivan, LCSW & M.Ed

Creator of The Alpine Approach

My name is Josh Sullivan, I am the creator of the Alpine Approach and co-author of this course. I’m a husband, a father, and I have been a licensed therapist, elementary school administrator, and educator for over 10 years.

I have created this self-paced, online course for parents of anxious kids based on a decade of experience in schools and therapy practices. I love working with kids ages 5-12 because I get the privilege of witnessing when children start to discover the world. On the other hand, it’s also when many kids start to experience personal challenges and social struggles. I’ve seen children of all ages wrestle with anxiety, and parents of all backgrounds who feel at a loss with how to help them.

I want to use my expertise and my unique background in both social work and education to assist parents who want to treat their child’s anxiety at home, because I strongly believe that parents are the best advocates for their children. As a social worker, I recognize that traditional talk therapy is a great solution for many situations, but I’ve also seen instances where parents are able to save time and money just by implementing a few simple tools and interventions that have the power to reduce their child’s anxiety in the least restrictive environment—at home.

Kaylie Sullivan, M.Ed

Editor and Curriculum Specialist

I’m Kaylie Sullivan, I am a middle school English teacher and co-author of this course. In my years in education, I’ve seen a stronger focus placed on the social and emotional health of students as more need arises in our complicated society. I believe the best place for social and emotional competency to be taught is in the home, which is why I have spent so much time creating this course so that it is easy to understand and apply for parents everywhere.
